Approximately 20 kilometers far away from Tuan Chau port, Vung Vieng Floating Fishing Village is peaceful and among limestone islets emerging loftily from water with a scattering of wild flora. Staying on small bamboo boats rowed by local hospitable people, tourists can enjoy the wonderful scenery of the blue sky with the natural song of birds. Here is a place of numerous floating wooden houses where are living places of fishing families. Sometimes tourists can see house-keeping dogs jumping out from the simple but unique designed houses to “welcome” visitors.
Among picturesque landscape are sparse huts which lean against hybrid mountains with floating floats like straight balls. Those are the traditional sea pearl with the rafts just under the ground floor. A variety of fish such as cobia, swordfish, sea bass are raised to serve the restaurant, hotel or for export, which brings the main outcome for local fishermen.
Nowadays, according to the policy of authority, all of the residents of floating village have to move on land to reside for the sake of ensuring children’s education and life quality but we still believe that Vung Vieng Floating Fishing Village is still an interesting attraction that partly provides our guests a glimpse of “floating lives” on Halong Bay. It was an outstanding feature of local fishing villagers living on the World Heritage Site.
